1. Краткие теоретические положения

Past Simple

Если время называется "Past", значит, оно произошло в прошлом, если есть "Simple" значит, действие просто произошло, свершилось. Нет связи с настоящим (в отличие от Perfect), также, действие ничем не прерывалось, его не с чем сравнивать (в отличие от Continuous)

Очень часто действия в Past Simple идут друг за дружкой:

I came home, opened the fridge and found there is nothing to eat.



Past Continuous

Continuous и Perfect - более сложные времена, и, поэтому, действия не просто происходят, а происходят на каком-то фоне, будь то другое время, обычно выраженное в Past Simple, либо просто указание точного времени.

Yesterday at 8 I was watching TV.

Past Perfect

Past Perfect очень похож на Present Perfect с той лишь поправкой, что время событие или действие перенесено назад, в прошлое. Действие должно закончиться уже не к точке, которую я условно обозначил "Now", а к какой-то точке в прошлом, выраженной, как и в Continuous или указанием времени, или другим действием в Past Simple. Например:

When we arrived she'd left. Ко времени нашего прибытия она уже ушла. Не интересует, когда она ушла, как. Важно совершённость и законченность действия к этому моменту.

Why do we go to the theatre?

A lot of people like to visit the theatre. For centuries people have attended the theatre for different reasons: to be entertained and amused, to enjoy the acting of the favourite actors, to relax or to have a good laugh.

The theatre is one of the oldest kinds of arts. Some people like musical comedy, others are fond of drama. The subtle theatre-lovers enjoy ballet and opera.

My first theatre-going

I will never forget my first theatre-going. It was years ago, but this survived quite vividly in my memory. My brother bought beforehand two tickets for a wonderful performance – the ballet “Sleeping Beauty” by Tchaikovsky. We came to the theatre thirty minutes before the performance started. A sign at the entrance stated “full house”.

We quickly took our seats in the stalls and started exploring the theatre. My brother showed me the dress-circle, the boxes, the pit, and balconies. Then the lights went down. The chapel master appeared and the overture began.

I had never seen anything more wonderful before. The dancing and the scenery were superb. The performance seemed to me like a fairy tale. And when the last curtain went down all the playgoers burst into applause. The performance scored a great success with the audience. It was one of my best memories.

Cinema (1)

Cinema plays an important role in the life of any society. It is an available popular form of art. Lots of people find going to the cinema one of the best ways of spending their leisure time. The movie audience is predominantly a young one.

Due to numerous video facilities, cinema attendances have declined sharply. But there is no denying the fact that the cinema-going habit is still a strong one.

No matter how large the place you live in is (whether it's a big city or a small provincial town, or even a settlement) there's most likely to be a cinema there.

There are such genres of feature films as the western, the thriller, the musical, the drama and the comedy. The performance lasts for two or three hours and most cinemas have at least 4 performances a day. There is no doubt that a good cinema show is an excellent entertainment and quite cheap. Of late cinema screens in this country have been dominated by films produced in the USA. And this tendency is growing.

As for me, I'm fond of going to the cinema. It's a pity, I don't always have time for it. It's an open secret that we live in a very difficult time now. But people do need something amusing and pleasant, something to laugh at. That's why I give my preference to comedies. The last comedy, I saw, is «Crocodile Dandy». The film tells about amusing adventures of a young lovely woman — reporter and a strong and brave crocodile hunter. At first, their relations were not friendly. She even looked down on him and he in return neglected her. But after he rescued her out of some difficult situations, their relations became more friendly. A happy end is an essential feature of American films. The same is true of this comedy. The main characters fall in love with each other in the end of the film.

Every man has his own preferences – «tasted differ». Each of us is carried away by occupations that we choose according to our wishes. Some people like going for sports, but some doesn’t. Someone would love to embroider, someone considers embroidery tedious and boring.

For example, I love collecting various trinkets and souvenirs. This activity is very fascinating for me and I am delighted with it. I love to write poetry, draw and read. Most of all I love to read detective stories.

My cousin hates sitting at home. She likes active lifestyle much more. Recently she has taken up playing tennis. In general, in her spare moments she is not averse to sing some foreign song in French. She adores the French language, traditions and customs of the Frenchmen. In the future, she plans to pay a visit to France and call on her aunt, who has been living there for already 10 years .

My elder brother is crazy about cars. He collects old cars, restoring them to his style. In addition, he is a very athletic guy. He goes to the gym three times a week and does exercises for 2-3 hours there. As for me, I hate sports. For my part mental exercises are more important than physical ones. But my brother thinks otherwise. He holds the opinion: «A sound mind in a sound body».

The Future Progressive Tense.

Будущее продолженное время Future Progressive обозначает будущее действие в процессе его совершения, т.е. незаконченное длительное действие. Future Progressive употребляется также для выражения намерения совершить действие в будущем или уверенность в его совершении.
